Hey I just had a brainstorm and I need your feedback, your ideas, your thoughts...

I was thinking along the lines of having a Student Gallery with a picture of each person who has completed the free online Learn Typing course.   Your first name would be required, along with your city and country and the reason why you did the Learn Typing course (eg. to pass exams for school, to get a job, for personal interest or to update your skills as a typing professional).

So what do you think?   Post your ideas at the bottom of this blog.

I don't really know what I'm getting myself in for here.  There have been 100's of thousands of people who have visited this site... Actually, there have been over 2.5 million visitors to Learn Typing.  So that could be a lot of photos.

So before I do anything I need to hear from you.  Please click the comments link to leave a comment and tell me what you think.   Would love to hear from you.

What's your limit?

How many times have people told you that you can't do it, it's too hard, don't bother, don't waste your time, it's out of reach???  You have a dream, a vision, a hope and you see it there and you're starting to reach for it but.... you fall down, you lose hope, you start to doubt yourself.  Do you know what I'm talking about?

So what do you do?   Do you listen to the negative people and your own negative thoughts.  My answer is YES!  Yes, you cannot deal with struggles, with opposition, with enemies until you stand your ground and stare them in the face.  Otherwise you're a runner, a hider, a dreamer who will always be dreaming and never achieving.

Someone once said that if you can conceive it you can achieve it.  So whatever your goal, be it to become better at typing or a sport or a job or your home life or yourself as an individual.... don't give up.  You started this for a reason.

There are many people in the world who have achieved amazing things and we look at them and think, "What wonderful people. What superstars.  They must be so strong."  Yet, many of those people have also had so many failures and disappointments.  Many of them had given up all hope of things ever changing.  Many of them had come to a point where they were ready to throw away their dream.  But they got up one more time and they started again one more time and the put failure behind them one more time and went on to achieve their dream.

What about you?

Are you ready to give up?  Perhaps you haven't actually been trying but just messing around hoping that things will be handed to you and you won't have to do a thing.  That really is dreaming.  So ask yourself, how important is this thing that you are aiming for, how much do you want it, how much are you prepared to give for it so that you and your family or dear ones may one day know the fruit of your labour... that you yourself will be able to enjoy all the benefits of your hard work.

What do you need to do then?  If you need to ask for help, then ask!  If you need to admit you were wrong about something, then admit it!  If you need to change the way you do things, then change!  Do you need to have a different attitude to your goals so that it's not all about you, then be humble enough to realise that your dream may not just be for you but for others too and that you are being called to be a humble servant and not a hero.  Do you need to change your priorities, then make those changes so that you put first things first!

About 7 years ago, I took a typing course which my mother had created to teach people in school and I dared to think that I might be able to find a way to put in on the internet so that more people could learn to type, and that they would be able to do this for free.   When I started, I didn't have a clue what I was doing.  It was very frustrating trying to find a way to create those little boxes that you can type in.  I hadn't learned anything like this and had to teach myyself.  I also had to learn how to promote the website once it was created.  There were lots of challenges along the way but I had one thing that kept me going.  I kept my eye on the end goal.  And here we are now, with over 2 million visits.  I know I didn't do this on my own.  My mother has been a great encourager and I have drawn strength too, and most importantlly, from my faith in God.

So..... whatever your dream, your goals, your vision for the future I wish you all the best and I want to encourage you not to give up.   Some of the greatest successes in the world came because a person refused to give up.

Learn Typing is aware that many of those who visit our site are preparing themselves for a job.  Typing is an important skill to have today when many places require employees to be able to use a computer.

We've posted this blog on Learn Typing because we are considering providing job information on this site.  We would like to know if you would have an interest in this.  So please share you thoughts by leaving a comment on this blog.

Meantime, don't forget to practice your typing.  Just doing 10-15 minutes (which doesn't seem like a lot) 5 DAYS A WEEK will make a BIG difference.

All the best for your typing, your education and the jobs you are working in or hoping to find .  :)

Don't forget to leave a comment on this blog and tell us what you think of this idea.

The Learn Typing Dream

Posted by freetypingcourse on November 8, 2013 at 6:50 AM Comments comments (17)

About six years after Learn Typing first went live on the Internet, we are now doing our first blog. It has been our dream to put a free typing tutor on the Internet that will help people with things such as education, hobbies and employment.

It's been an amazing journey.

We are so encouraged to know that so many people with different ages, skills and professions are benefiting from this typing tutor.  We have people from complete beginners to typing professionals including typing teachers.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think we could have imagined that day would come when we would get over 1 million visits but now we have over 1.5 million!  We have also reached 2,000 'likes' on our Facebook page.  We are truly humbled and thankful for all the support that has been given to make this possible.  That means that if you've visited us, done some of the Learn Typing course or passed it on to others, then you are part of this story.  :)

So what's the purpose of this blog?

We hope to  use this blog to give special tips on how to get the best out of your typing experience and to also provide an opportunity for feedback from you.   So if you have some questions you'd like answered, drop in a note below this blog post and this will give us some food for thought as we seek to develop this new section of www.learntyping.org
