What's your limit?

Posted by freetypingcourse on August 17, 2014 at 4:30 AM

How many times have people told you that you can't do it, it's too hard, don't bother, don't waste your time, it's out of reach???  You have a dream, a vision, a hope and you see it there and you're starting to reach for it but.... you fall down, you lose hope, you start to doubt yourself.  Do you know what I'm talking about?

So what do you do?   Do you listen to the negative people and your own negative thoughts.  My answer is YES!  Yes, you cannot deal with struggles, with opposition, with enemies until you stand your ground and stare them in the face.  Otherwise you're a runner, a hider, a dreamer who will always be dreaming and never achieving.

Someone once said that if you can conceive it you can achieve it.  So whatever your goal, be it to become better at typing or a sport or a job or your home life or yourself as an individual.... don't give up.  You started this for a reason.

There are many people in the world who have achieved amazing things and we look at them and think, "What wonderful people. What superstars.  They must be so strong."  Yet, many of those people have also had so many failures and disappointments.  Many of them had given up all hope of things ever changing.  Many of them had come to a point where they were ready to throw away their dream.  But they got up one more time and they started again one more time and the put failure behind them one more time and went on to achieve their dream.

What about you?

Are you ready to give up?  Perhaps you haven't actually been trying but just messing around hoping that things will be handed to you and you won't have to do a thing.  That really is dreaming.  So ask yourself, how important is this thing that you are aiming for, how much do you want it, how much are you prepared to give for it so that you and your family or dear ones may one day know the fruit of your labour... that you yourself will be able to enjoy all the benefits of your hard work.

What do you need to do then?  If you need to ask for help, then ask!  If you need to admit you were wrong about something, then admit it!  If you need to change the way you do things, then change!  Do you need to have a different attitude to your goals so that it's not all about you, then be humble enough to realise that your dream may not just be for you but for others too and that you are being called to be a humble servant and not a hero.  Do you need to change your priorities, then make those changes so that you put first things first!

About 7 years ago, I took a typing course which my mother had created to teach people in school and I dared to think that I might be able to find a way to put in on the internet so that more people could learn to type, and that they would be able to do this for free.   When I started, I didn't have a clue what I was doing.  It was very frustrating trying to find a way to create those little boxes that you can type in.  I hadn't learned anything like this and had to teach myyself.  I also had to learn how to promote the website once it was created.  There were lots of challenges along the way but I had one thing that kept me going.  I kept my eye on the end goal.  And here we are now, with over 2 million visits.  I know I didn't do this on my own.  My mother has been a great encourager and I have drawn strength too, and most importantlly, from my faith in God.

So..... whatever your dream, your goals, your vision for the future I wish you all the best and I want to encourage you not to give up.   Some of the greatest successes in the world came because a person refused to give up.

Respected Guru(Teacher),
As someone rightly said, "courage is buried in encourage." Your "LEARN TYPING" is exactly an encourager. I am not a runner but a fighter.
My childhood was very miserable but I have a sound job that's only because I am fighter. During my boyhood days, I saddened and cried very much because of my ill-fate that I couldn't learn typing. Somehow I managed to learn typing but the computerization made to close almost all accessible type learning institutes in our locality. That stopped my dream to type for ever. However, I believe, it's my rebirth. It was accidently, I met with your the most fantastic 'LEARN TYPING BLOG". Since then, I've never slept a day without practicing at least one hour a day. Now I can type anything without looking in the key board or even sometime by closing eyes at a speed of 85 words per minutes. Since my boyhood dreams have been fulfilled, I wish this would be one of the most visited sites in the world.

Since I am not a runner, I've accomplished my dream come true to my life. And it's my privilege to THANK YOU from my true heart.

Yours faithfully,
Shiji Kuriakose

Shiji, what an inspiration your OWN story is. I hope many people read this and are encouraged not only to learn typing (and that means regular practice) but to learn many other things as well as typing. After doing so well in typing Shiji you will be able to take that same attitude and dedication and apply it to other areas of your life. Well done! :)

I was just thinking about this post: What's Your Limit? and realised that you can look at this two ways. You can look at it from the point of view what's your limit? or what's your best? or how far can you go? Or..... you can look at if from the point of view of what's limiting you. For example, if you spend too much time in front of the TV and not enough time learning how to type then you are going to take longer to get the skills you need to type faster and more accurately so that you can pass your exam or get a job or whatever you are wanting to learn typing for. So here's a question to consider then: What's limiting you? or, how are you limiting yourself? When you find the answer to that, you unlock your potential to discovering your true potential and your ultimate limits in life.

It's really great hearing people's personal stories. Good on you for your determination. Often people's attitude it more limiting than their aptitude. You attitude determines your altitude. Hope that's not too many plays on words but they are true and this is what will keep you going. My first qualification in life was as a butcher.... I now have a bachelors degree and a post graduate diploma plus some other bits of paper and one of the things that helped me push through (even when I wanted to quit) was I kept refocusing on the reason why I was doing what I was doing. So if you work hard and keep your focus, I know you'll get there. All the best Sonia. Kind Regards, Geoff
